While out yesterday, I stopped by the Forest Avenue branch of the Des Moines, Iowa Public Library and found a banned book on its display for Banned Books Week. The book is The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey. I opened the book this morning, but only perused some of the front matter. I’m thinking I’ll write a note or short review on this site, discussing why I think the book is banned., and whether or not I agree with the ban. Check back for that.
Banned books Week 2019 is from September 22 – 28. The theme of the week is “Censorship Leaves Us in the Dark – Keep the Light On.”
